The most well-known and popular beach is Mount Maunganui, with its relaxed beach vibe the swimming, surfing, shops and cafés attract visitors from around New Zealand and around the world. Climb to the top of Mt Maunganui summit for amazing views or walk the track around the base of the Mount. The cruise ships in the harbour over summer are a magnificent sight to watch bringing people out to line the beautiful Pilot Bay.
